Y-adapter
- Any
type of connection that splits a signal into two parts.
An example would be a connector with one female RCA
jack on one end, and two male RCA jacks on the other
end.

Y/C
- Abbreviation for luminance/ chrominance, aka S-video
signal. Color and detail signals are kept separate,
thus preventing composite video artifacts. Cable uses
four-pin connector. Used with S-VHS VCRs, DVD players,
Hi-8, and DBS receivers.

YCbCr - YCbCr
refers to an interlaced scan-only component video
connection. A YCbCr connection typically is not capable
of passing through a high definition video signal.

YPbPr - YPbPR
refers to a progressive Scan-capable component video
input/output connection. YPbPR is also another term for
component video. Some YPbPR connections are also
HD-compatible. |
